This lead and follow social dance is a passionate fusion of elegance, romance and communication between you and your partner. No partner required.


Ashtanga Yoga

Astanga Yoga is a dynamic and challenging form of hatha yoga.  Each pose is linked to the next through a series of connecting movements called vinyasa, allowing the body to create heat & leadind to more flexibility.  This powerful and vigorous practise purifies and realigns the body, cultivating a feeling of inner peace, and leading to a natural state of meditation.

A fun and exciting way to learn the art of Classical Ballet without the pressure of exams. Wear ballet shoes or bare feet.

Ballet LVL 3

Classical ballet class concentrates on advanced barre compositions and fluid centre work.


Ballet Pointe Class

In dancing en pointe, the pointe dancer will warm up by doing exercises at the barre and in the center before performing routines or combinations en pointe.

Some previous experience of pointe work is advisable.


Ballroom

Ballroom is a beautiful and romantic partner dance that can be enjoyed by everyone. On this course we build on the figures and experience learnt at beginners level to enable us to put together figures that make up our Ballroom Dance Routines. Wear a soft soled shoe with a heel-No stilettos please.
 


Ballroom AB

These drop in classes offer the new dancer an introduction to ballroom rhythms and the first steps to take you onto the dance floor.


Ballroom LVL 2

A class for those who want to do social dancing at the highest possible standard. This class is as much about learning figures and routines as it is technique.  Dancers in this class are of all standards and our goal is to help them achieve what they want at what level they want. Please wear soft soled shoes, with or without a heel. Stilettos and black soled trainers are not allowed.
 


Bollywood

Bollywood dance is about storytelling, fantasy and glamour. The style is a fusion of Indian Classical dance, Indian Folk dance, Hip Hop, Jazz, Salsa, Belly Dancing and Bhangra.


Breakin' Fundamentals LVL 2

This class offers advanced training in all areas of breakin', musicality and development of own style.  It will also develop and exercise students' performance and battle skills.  In addition, the class will aim to extend students' knowledge about the culture and history of breakin' wherever possible.


Capoeira (Senzala) (L)

Originally created by African slaves in Brazil. Capoeira develops endurance physical conditioning and mental balance though a unique combination of martial art and dance. www.groupsenzala.co.uk

Club Mix is a rigorous aerobic workout, with a combination of street and club inspired routines to keep you fit


Contemporary LVL 1

An introduction to Contemporary dance technique. Graham/Cunningham-based. Includes a challenging core stability workout and develops strength, stamina and flexibility.


Contemporary LVL 2

An energetic class incorporating floorwork, centre work and travelling. This class will develop skills learnt in level 1 and include more complex phrases and routines. Develop your technical skills and dancer's physique.


Contemporary Prof Performance

A fast moving and energetic class which focuses on building stamina, exploring dynamics and developing performance skills. Graham/Cunningham based.


Creative Break (14+)

A chance to learn the foundations of breakdance and add your own flavour to moves to create a style.  Key skills such as up rock, drops, footwork, freezes and intro to power moves.  It is a good chance to meet other people and jam with each other.  This is not a class that is easy and will require some conditioning to progress. Wear white soled trainers.

 

 


Egyptian Dance LVL 3

Higher level class designed to work with more complex music & moves exploring a range of Oriental style music.

£3.50 if signed up to the LVL2 course


Egyptian Dance LVL 2

Improver level bellydance course building on basic moves & linking them into combinations culminating in a piece of choreography to a funky Egyptian pop song.


Egyptian LVL 1

Basic Egyptian belly dance technique. Suitable for beginners as well as a techniaue check for improver level dancers. A range of music from modern pop to old Egyptian classics...

Funk & Soul

A rhythmic style of dance that works every muscle to create moves to funk and soul music.


House (14+yrs)

House is one of the original styles of street dance performed to house music. House is influenced by many other disciplines including (but not limited to) Lindy Hop, African, Salsa and Tap. House continues to influence many styles including Hiphop, Newstyle and Breakdance amongst others.


In Motion

A creative dance class for adults with learning disabilities. Participants will take part in creative activities to create new movement for performance and have lots of fun!


Jazz LVL 2

This is a vibrant, high energy Jazz class that has a structured physical warm up to stretch and strengthen the body. Includes exercises across the floor and occasionally a dance routine covering different styles of Jazz. The class focuses on improving your skills in Jazz technique, it's a great way to move up from Jazz LVL1 and work at a faster pace.  Some dance experience is necessary, a background in ballet helps but is not essential.

 


Jazz LVL1

This class focuses on the basic techniques of Jazz Dance, giving you the skills that are used in all the different styles of Jazz including Musical Theatre, Street Jazz and many more. The warm up improves your strength, posture, alignment and flexibility. The exercises are performed quite slowly so you can understand how to develop your body as a dancer. The technique focuses on jazz moves such as kicks, jetes & pirouettes, the aim of this class being to enable dancers to progress from beginners to general and advanced classes.
 


Kathak From 26th Feb 2010

Kathak is a North Indian dance style, characterized by graceful movement, fast spins and rhythmic footwork and intricate gesture. 


Musical Theatre

This routine based class draws inspiration from the West End, Broadway and Hollywood films. There is a strong emphasis on preparing you for performance and the class gives you a chance to put your Jazz technique into practice!  Some experience helps out but is not essential.


Pilates

Pilates provides a relaxation and strength workout. In Pilates your centre is your powerhouse, each exercise is controlled by the contraction of the abdominal and lower back muscles. This class will help build strength, correct postural imbalances and improve co-ordination and balance.
 


Power Moves 14+

Learn the fundamental BBoy Power Moves such as windmill, swipe and flare. This class focuses on technique and conditioning and requires a prior knowledge of BBoying


Professional Class

An opportunity for dancers across the region to take a professional class incorporating yoga and Cunningham based work.


Salsa Lvl 1

Learn the basic steps and turns to get you dancing and find your rhythm. No experience needed. Cuban - influenced style so heels are acceptable but no stilettos please. No partner required and you can stay with your own partner if you wish


Salsa Lvl 2 course

Improve your confidence, style and variety by building up your footwork. Sample some of the salsa genres and try some new moves. Heels are acceptable but no stilettos please. No partner required and you can stay with your own partner if you wish.


Social Ballroom

Ballroom is a beautiful and romantic partner dance that can be enjoyed by everyone. Even if you feel you have two lest feet, this class will teach you the basics of waltz, quickstep, cha-cha and jive. Wear a soft soled shoe with a heel. No stiletttos please.
 


Street LVL 1

An energetic and fresh fusion of all Street styles, mainly Hip Hop, Breakin’, Rockin’ and House. This is a high intensity, fitness-based class which utilises sound personal training methods alongside Street dance styles to develop stamina, core-strength, flexibility, co-ordination, balance and agility.


Street LVL 2

An energetic and fresh fusion of all Street styles, mainly Hip Hop, Breakin’, Rockin’ and House. This is a very high intensity, fitness-based class which utilises sound personal training methods alongside Street dance styles to develop stamina, core-strength, flexibility, co-ordination, balance and agility.


Tango Argentino AB

This is a class for complete beginners and for people who want to go over the basics and improve their technique.  The session will provide a solid foundation for those who want to dance in a social context and to continue developing their skills.


Tango Argentino LVL 1

The class will cover the fundamentals and basics of Tango, and you will work on posture and technique. No partner required. Ladies wear high heeled shoes.


Tango y Milonga LVL 2

 The Tango Practica is a space for Tango dancers (of all levels) to come and practice what they've learnt and polish their technique and footwork.

No partner required. Ladies wear stout heeled shoes.


Tap AB

For absolute beginners, this class covers the basic tap steps in a fun and energetic way.  Both the traditional and alternative tap styles are explored. 

Tap shoes are available to hire at the Ticket Office for 50p per pair.
 


Tap LVL 1

For beginners and those with a basic level of tap technique.  The session includes step combinations, corner work and dance routines. Tap shoes are available to hire at the Ticket Office for 50p per pair.

 

 


Tap LVL 2

For improvers moving on from LVL1 or anyone who has tapped before who wishes to improve their co-ordination and brush up their style.  The session includes various time steps, pick-ups and wings, corner and travelling work and dance routines.  During the term several musical and tap styles are explored, and routines are choreographed, practised and rehearsed up to performance level.

Tap shoes are available to hire at the Ticket Office for 50p per pair.


Top Rockin' 14+

Many styles such as Hip Hop and street dance developed from Top Rockin'. Top Rock is the upright dance form mostly associated with BBoying, usually followed by footwork or power moves. Within BBoying Top Rockin' is often used to convey a dancer's unique character, style and musicality.

 

Learn how to Top Rock & hit beats with style and finesse. This class focuses on technical vocabulary, freestyle, conditioning and musicality.


Tribal Belly Dance LVL1

 A contemporary dance form which draws its inspiration largely from the dances of the Middle East and North Africa along with influences from Spanish and Indian. An urban edge can be added to the mix to give an amazing fusion that has real attitude.

 The dance is mainly improvised but choreography is sometimes used when appropriate. A vocabulary of cues is learned along with the moves which forms a language used by the dancers to communicate. www.tribezuza.co.uk

Yoga for Pregnancy From Sat 27th Feb (pre-book)

Yoga stretches, moving meditations and information for pregnant women. This class supports well-being in pregnancy and will help women to feel resourced for their labour and birth.


Yoga LVL 1

Yoga uses postures, breath awareness and flowing sequences that help you to relax, de-stress, improve your flexibility and become more aware of using energy effectively. This class will feature more simple postures - great for refining your practise and partuicularly for those students who are new to yoga. Mats, blocks and belts supplied. 
 


Yoga LVL 2

Yoga uses postures, breath awareness and flowing sequences that help you to relax, de-stress, improve your flexibility and become more aware of using energy effectively. This class will feature more demanding postures so is particularly suitable for dancers and more experienced yoga students. Not suitable for beginners - please attend Lvl 1.
