• For boys, a T-shirt worn with shorts or leggings/dance tights is ideal, but tracksuit bottoms (shorter leg length to avoid trips/falls) are also suitable.
Shoes:- Soft ballet shoes are ideal, soft jazz shoes or socks would be a suitable alternative.

Description of a typical class:
These inclusive classes offer those with previous ballet experience the opportunity to further develop their skills and enjoy putting into practice what they have already learned, whilst simultaneously offering those with no previous ballet experience the chance to be introduced to the foundations of classical ballet, in a no-pressure, fun environment.
Throughout these inspiring and informative classes, correct posture, placement and alignment will be encouraged, and some class discussion will involve analysis of classical technique and movement concepts. However, emphasis throughout is strongly upon participation and encouraging self-expression; simply experiencing ballet, giving it a go, and having some fun!

Music: For most classes, traditional piano ‘ballet class’ musical accompaniment is used; often including extracts from various Operas and Musicals, folk songs from Europe, and music by composers such as George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and Scott Joplin, played alongside extracts from famous classical ballets such as ‘Coppélia’, ‘Don Quixote’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’, ‘Les Sylphides’, ‘La Bayadère’, and ‘The Nutcracker’. Occasionally classical orchestral pieces are also utilized if learning a specific dance or enchaînement from classical repertoire, while pieces from other musical genres may also be used on occasion for specific activities.
