Rising is an evening of new solo performances by Aakash Odedra choreographed by Russell Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Akram Khan.
Choreographer Akram Khan explores the evolution of humans over time and their relation to animals in In The Shadow Of Man. In this vibrant piece he investigates the age-old connection between animals and Indian Dance, revealing the qualities, movement and rhythm of animals.
Using his fascination with the elemental power of lightning and thunder, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui creates movement that highlights the different patterns of sound and images in Constellation.
Nritta (Kathak), choregraphed and performed by Aakash, combines the exhilarating flavour of contemporary dance with the traditions of Kathak.
In CUT, choreographer Russel Maliphant presents a piece that uses Akasha’s familiarity with Kathak and Bharat Natyam styles to create a contained world that expresses its own logic of flow and form.
