Vivien Wood premiers her new production at Dance City this July, exploring how living in exile affects your sense of belonging and what it means when you return home.

Dance City are supporting 22 choreographers and their companies as part of Creative Summer, a free studio space offer from July to September 2013.

Creative Summer supports dance artists and companies by giving them a free residency to research, develop and create new work in Dance City’s theatre and studios. Dance City and TIN Arts are inviting interested individuals and organisations to attend an open meeting to discuss the possible formation of a North East Inclusive Dance Network.

The open meeting will take place at Dance City in Newcastle on Tuesday 18th June from 1.00 – 3.00pm. It is for anybody who is interested in talking about the future of inclusive dance in the North East of England and is for disabled and non-disabled artists, supporters, organisers and providers.

30/05/13 JMW Turner’s work re-imagined by Dora Frankel Dance as part of Festival of the North East.

The Unfolding Sky: Turner in the North is a vibrant re-imagining of the extraordinary depictions of the Northumberland countryside, captured on canvas by the great English landscape painter JMW Turner.

This performance is a collaboration between Artistic Director Dora Frankel and composer Peter Coyte and is inspired by JMW Turner’s tour of Northumberland and County Durham in 1797.

Ours was the Fen Country is Dan Canham’s new dance-theatre show which takes inspiration from the stark and beautiful landscape of the Fens in East Anglia.
