12/11/12 Youth dance groups compete again in Dance City’s Pulse 2013

Pulse 2013 is seeking the finest youth dance performance groups and dance crews in all styles to share their latest routines, with the opportunity to compete in the national U.Dance Finals.

Applications are now open to youth dance performance groups and dance crews (aged 11 – 19 years) from across theNorth East to take part in this special regional competition to celebrate the talent that exists in the North East.

Pulse 2013 is looking for groups and crews who can demonstrate excellence in both choreographic and performance standards and an ability and openness to practice new dance techniques and choreographic approaches.
Dance City and its partner dance venues in the region will be managing and coordinating local events throughout the North East which celebrate the best in youth dance. All the groups and crews will get the opportunity to perform in a professional space and be inspired by seeing each other’s work, followed by a regional final at Dance City in April.

Anthony Baker, Artistic Director from Dance City says:

“Dance City has a commitment to provide and champion high quality dance for all children and young people throughout the region. We offer increased opportunities to access dance activities and promote the progression routes available to young people from dancing in their bedrooms to offering professional level training through our gifted and talented programme and vocational study through our partnerships with Gateshead College."

We are very grateful to our partners in the region (Queen’s Hall Hexham, The Customs House South Shields, ARC Stockton Arts Centre and The Forge) for their continued involvement with this celebration of dance by young People.

Pulse 2013 events offer the opportunity, for groups selected, to represent the North East at the national U.Dance 2013 celebration festival at Leeds in July 2013.
