About Youth Dance England

Youth Dance England (YDE) is the national agency which aims to connect young people with dance. YDE strives for every young person across the country to have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of high quality dance.

YDE has created the first regional network with nine dance organisations to increase opportunities for young people to engage in dance. Helen Green is the North East Regional Co-ordinator for YDE, based at Dance City.

Dance Links: Making Links

Are you a partnership development manager, schools sports co-ordinator or teacher, wanting to develop high quality dance provision within or beyond the curriculum?

Making Links is a training and networking opportunity that aims to promote high quality links between schools and dance practitioners, and to support schools in creating more opportunities for children and young people to dance.

One-day events will take place in the nine English regions in late autumn 2007 and spring 2008. Places are funded through the PE, School Sport and Club Links initiative (PESSCL) and you will need to apply if you wish to take part.

The day focuses on best practice in the planning, delivery and evaluation of dance projects within the curriculum and after school. It provides an opportunity for partnership development managers, schools sports coordinators and teachers to consider:

• High quality dance links and high quality outcomes
• How to identify and work with dance artists, dance practitioners and other out of school dance providers
Discussions during the morning will lead into the afternoon Marketplace where you will be able to meet talk and network with dance artists, dance practitioners and out of school dance providers working in your region. You will be able to discuss your needs and their work, and directly explore opportunities to provide dance experiences for young people within and beyond the curriculum.

The day follows on from a training day for dance artists, dance practitioners and out of school dance providers focusing on the provision of high quality dance in schools.
