About
Aaron Markwell is a dance artist, choreographer, and creative director whose work spans performance, education, and socially engaged practice. A graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire and Central Saint Martins, Aaron’s first bout in the dance industry led to performing for Lea Anderson and Stephanie Schober. Their choreographic voice, often exploring themes from queerness and Kabuki Theatre, blends movement with multidisciplinary design, as seen in works like Smells Like Butter and Seek & Hide.
After an eight-year hiatus working as a Creative Lead in the interior design industry, Aaron returned to dance reinvigorated, bringing with them a unique perspective on creative direction and collaboration. They are currently the Company Director of Dance Artists North East (DANE), where they support regional artists through professional development and community engagement.
This class will feature elements of Cunningham and Release techniques set to a mix of pop and RnB for a fun, relaxed vibe. We'll finish with a phrase developed from Aaron's Creative Summer residency at Dance City.
