About
Adult Breaking is a dynamic 5-week workshop series for absolute beginners, led by Alex and Eroy. You will learn the foundations of breaking, including top rock, footwork, power, and freezes, while building confidence, coordination, and style. Alongside learning a group choreographed routine, you will also develop your own solos for the cypher, with both teachers guiding you through technique, performance, and self-expression.
What is Breaking?
Breaking was born in the Bronx in the 1970s, alongside hip-hop, as dancers responded to the breakbeats in funk records with rhythm, style, and battle energy. It is more than spins and tricks - it is groove, footwork, freezes, musicality, and personality. Breaking is where history, competition, and self-expression meet in the circle.
What do I need to wear?
Participants usually wear clothes they can move in freely and safely: comfortable active gear like T-shirts, hoodies, track pants, or shorts, plus comfortable supportive trainers with good grip. Additional layers may be preferable to handle floorwork, slides, and freezes.
Who is it for?
This workshop is for adults who are completely new to breaking and want to explore movement, music, and self-expression in a supportive environment. Whether you are looking to build confidence, try something new, improve coordination, or connect with hip-hop culture, this series is designed to help you start from the basics and grow at your own pace.
