Debbi has been based in Newcastle since 1993, where she has developed and grown her practice as an independent dance artist in performance, choreography, movement direction, teaching and mentoring. She is an advocate for supporting young and developing artists and as a parent and mature performer she has been focused on making dance and yoga classes accessible for older people and new parents in performing arts. Debbi is balletLORENT’s rehearsal director and creative partner and has been performing with the company since 2000. Her career includes work across dance, theatre and visual art and she is a long-term collaborator with Simon Birch Dance based in Cornwall. She is a lecturer in Graham technique and has taught and choreographed at the Northern School of Contemporary

Dance, Trinity Laban, Falmouth University, Dance City and Newcastle College. Debbi completed her teacher training in yoga – Vinyasa flow at Falmouth yoga space and has an MA in professional Practice through Teeside University.

Class will draw influence from my practices in Yoga, Graham based floor work, release technique and improvisation. Lots of focus on connection to the breath, alignment, articulation of the spine, to prepare the body to move, with physicality and expressiveness in the space to some tip top tunes!
