An extended pro class from 9.30am-12:00pm - a Masterclass / Introduction to Voguing with Darren Pritchard, Mother of Manchester's “House of Ghetto”.
Vogue, or Voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980's which evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of 1960's America. Developed and performed by LGBTQ people of colour to create and own their own space it has grown to become a celebration of their culture.
This masterclass with the Mother of House of Ghetto, Darren Pritchard will give an introduction to the 3 genres of voguing, old way, new way and Vogue Femme.
Performer, Choreographer, Teacher, Producer and Director, Darren Pritchard works with free runners, street/ballet/contemporary dancers and actors to create work that is "only limited by what they can't imagine". Darren has recently spent time at Dance City Newcastle and Sunderland on the development of Newcastle Vogue House, House of Finesse, winners of Best House at the House of Suarez + Contact Vogue Ball in Manchester.
Those who attend the masterclass are invited to showcase their work by walking at the Curious Vogue Ball on Saturday 6th July.
Curious Vogue Ball and Vogue workshops and screenings are programmed as part of Curious Festival 2019.
