About
This workshop is presented by Dance City in association with Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music
Something Smashing
Something Smashing is a monthly night of improvisation performances in Edinburgh curated by dancers Alma Lindenhovius & Skye Reynolds and saxophonist Graeme Wilson. Something Smashing will be running an afternoon workshop at Dance City, in which SomeSmash regulars (musicians and dancers) will explore approaches to improvised interaction through workshop and performance practice activities with participants. The session aims to allow both musicians and dancers to steer and respond to improvised contributions across their disciplines, and to gain a sense of how spontaneous performance can emerge from the group rather than individuals within it. No previous experience of improvisation is required.
