About The Seven Bridges

In a unique collaboration, Dance City and West End Refugee Service (WERS) have come together to create a brand new world kitchen concept – The Seven Bridges.

Our vision is to be a place where great food and drink offers the context for conversation. At the heart of The Seven Bridges lies a deep commitment to empower refugees and asylum seekers through training and development opportunities.

With a menu created in collaboration with WERS volunteers, we’re aiming to showcase the rich techniques and traditions of those who volunteer there, whilst enabling them to improve existing, and learn new skills, and gain experience which will become a stepping stone to future employment.

West End Refugee Service (WERS)

West End Refugee Service (WERS) is a registered charity that provides support and opportunities to people seeking asylum and refugees on Tyneside. They work to bring about positive change to the lives of people whose futures have been irrevocably changed by past events in their home country.

Since 1999, they have delivered a range of integrated services to reduce levels of poverty, isolation, disadvantage and prejudice experienced by the people we support, as they navigate the asylum system in the UK.

Their projects aim to help people regain control over their lives and rebuild a future here.

They are a small team with over 90 volunteers and they work with partners across the region to deliver our projects and services.

Visit their website here.

Support Us

We need your help with the first phase of development. Your donations will allow us to:

Purchase updated kitchen equipment
Support specialist training sessions
Upgrade front of house

Our aim is to provide high quality training and an experience which equips volunteers to step into a career in catering or hospitality when it is right for them. The Seven Bridges will have a real social impact locally, and provide somewhere new, exciting and different to eat for those living, working and visiting Newcastle. Our goal is to support dozens of volunteers in the near future.
