Vehicle Commissions Call Out – Vehicle Arts

Vehicle Commissions are 5 exciting new commissions for new and emerging talent to take over spaces in the Leicester’s Cultural Quarter and display work to a public audience.Vehicle Commissions are generously supported by Arts Council England using funds from the National Lottery.

Who can apply?

  • New, emerging and mid-career artists and performers from across the UK.
  • Those looking to develop their practice by finding innovative ways to create public engagement are especially encouraged.

Works should respond to the following thematic:

 

Connectivity.

Submissions are free to respond to the theme, connectivity.

Here are some ideas of how connectivity may interact within an urban space:

  • The renewal and future possibility of specific spaces
  • How people co-exist within an urban space
  • How the senses connect a place to the experiences received in a space
  • Relationship between the proximity of spaces
  • Connected layers of use/time/space

Proposals should demonstrate how the work will respond to a specific space whilst encouraging connectivity through audience engagement.

Works of any medium will be considered.

Vehicle works with partner venues to programme accessible and new, developing work an opportunity to be seen by a wider audience, placing artworks outside the white walled gallery experience.

We have a shortlist of venues around the cultural core square and Orton Square

showcasing at any particular venue will be  dependent application and suitability for each space

  • Some Bright Spark, shop front cultural quarter design company on Halford and Yeoman Street

  • The Exchange Bar on Halford and Rutland Street

  • LCB Depot street food night Last Friday, on Rutland Street

Performances will APPLY HEREbe scheduled to take place as a part of Cultural Quarter Lates – a wider late night gallery opening and events in the area – that happens alongside LCB Depot street food night.
