DAR & OVADA’s EAiR is an artist development initiative for six UK-based participants. The opportunity provides artists with a 2-month online residency and culminates in an exhibition at OVADA, Oxford.

DAR has teamed up with OVADA to showcase the UK’s best new emerging artistic talent working in digital media. We are looking for proposals for projects and works which respond to the interaction and the understanding of various digital themes. We are interested in projects that deal with interactions between digital, online spaces and/or their physical materiality.

Artists would need to communicate clearly how these works would be appropriate for DAR’s online context and culminate in a physical exhibition at OVADA.

DAR is accepting proposals from artists whose practices involve digital media. But applications are open to practices that may also include: performance, sculpture, film, video, text/writing, sonic art, live works and cross-disciplinary practices. Groups may apply as well as individuals (however, the artist fee and costs budget would be shared).

The residencies are open to artists working in any discipline and/or medium, and from anywhere in the UK. DAR and OVADA are particularly interested in proposals from artists working with digital practices that can be realised in a physical exhibition at OVADA. We are interested in artists who can make use of DAR’s 24/7 access and multimedia facilities such as live streaming.

DAR provides:

• An artist’s fee of £600.

• Budget for materials, promo and technical support.

• Budget for travel and materials.

• Mentoring from established artists.

• An online residency for 2-months: July – August 2019.

• An exhibition at OVADA for 5 weeks: September – October 2019.

• DAR & OVADA will support and promote the artist and their work through its network.

• A short Artist Statement (100 words max)

• Proposal of project (max 500 words) including a timescale explaining what outcomes you would aim to achieve during the residency.

ELIGIBILITY

• make work using digital media

• be a maximum of two years from graduating a (BA, MA or equivalent) or current student.

• be living and working in the UK.

WHEN & WHERE

Online Residency – 1st July – 31st August 2019.

Install at OVADA – 16th – 18th Sept 2019.

Preview event at OVADA – Thursday 19th September 2019 (6-9pm).

Exhibition at OVADA – 20th September – 20th October 2019.

De-install exhibition – 21st – 23rd October 2019.
