Street Artistes/Outdoor Theatre/Interactive Installations Artists – South Tyneside Council

CALLING ALL UP AND COMING STREET ARTISTES/OUTDOOR THEATRE/INTERACTIVE INSTALLATIONS ARTISTS, South Tyneside Council has over 30 year’s experience of delivering outstanding events which not only appeal to local residents but visitors from across the UK. One of the key elements of the programme is our three month summer Festival which in 2019 attracted over 120,000 spectators.

The Festival features an opening parade (Saturday 4thJuly) which is one of the largest in the north of England. Subject to an Arts Council funding application we are looking to expand the parade programme into the following day (Sunday 5thJuly).

We are looking to programme a minimum of four special commissions by emerging street theatre companies/ artistes and/or static interactive installations at two performance locations on our stunning Promenade. Our aim is to engage with a wider audience in more intimate setting and in turn this will provide a platform for artistes to perform and develop their craft.

Each performance area will be operational for 3 hours during the afternoon and performers will have to work on a rotation with other performers, unless an installation.

Date: Sunday 5thJuly 2020

Times: Noon – 15.00

Fee: We are looking for a minimum of four commissions and the budget will be between £500 and £1500 inclusive of travel, accommodation and equipment costs. Artistes must indicate their expected fee on any submission.
