About
Deciphers is a physical performance by Naishi Wang and Jean Abreu that brings together elements of Chinese folk dance, Brazilian dance styles, spoken word, breath, and ink on paper. Both artists share a concern for the corporeal connections between immigration and translation as a linguistic phenomenon centering the immigrant experience.

As co-performers and choreographers, Wang and Abreu make the stage their blank canvas, using raw, improvisational movements to highlight the body as the base of communication and meaning.

The evening will consist of a sharing of the work followed by a Q&A.

Tickets to this sharing are free of charge, however booking is still required.

Deciphers is a co-production of The CanDance Network Creation Fund, Montreal Arts Interculturels, The Harbourfront Centre, National Arts Centre Canada and PuSh Festival, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. This creation period is supported by Arts Council England National Lottery, Fabric, South East Dance, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival & Dance City.
