About
Chance to Dance is the Royal Ballet and Opera’s flagship young talent programme, giving primary school children their first opportunity to engage creatively with ballet and connect with the inspirational repertory, choreographers and dancers of The Royal Ballet. The programme works in partnership with schools and dance schools across the country to broaden access to ballet, nurture talent and create pathways for young people from all backgrounds to develop their potential.
This performance celebrates the creativity and collaboration of the North East Chance to Dance team: Buzz Dance Company, Elaine Pygall School of Dance, Hunter Theatre Arts and Nicola Gauld School of Dance.
Inspired by the ballet Giselle, dancers have explored storytelling, artistry and creative expression to devise original choreography especially for this event. This sharing reflects not only their technical development, but also the imagination, commitment and joy that sit at the heart of Chance to Dance.
