About
As part of a new collaboration to strengthen dance in our region through development programmes, Moving Art Management and Dance City are bringing together independent artists from across the North East so that we can learn more about what matters to our region’s movement makers, performers and creatives connected to dance.
This session will provide an opportunity to connect, share insights and explore collaborative approaches to strengthening the regional dance ecology, with a focus on supporting artists, developing audiences and building sustainable creative opportunities.
As well as dance artists and producers, we’re also keen to welcome creatives other disciplines who are interested in collaborating with dance artists—whether you’re a costume or lighting designer, composer, theatre-maker or work with movement in your practice. This workshop offers a chance to cross-pollinate ideas, spark new connections and explore how different artforms can come together through dance and movement.
12:15pm Lunch (optional)
1pm Event begins
Free to attend. Lunch and refreshments available.
A limited number of £20 travel stipends are available for attendees who require financial support to attend. If this applies to you, please contact Moving Art Management - hello@movingartmanagement.com
If you are unable to attend the workshop you can get involved in our consultations in other ways.
In addition, we will be running:
- 30-minute online 1-2-1 conversation (spaces limited)
- Flexible scheduling at a mutually agreed time
- Space to speak openly about your practice, ambitions and challenges
- Opportunity to help shape future dance development support in the region
Participants will receive a £25 honorarium for their time and there are 20 consultation slots available.
Sessions will be facilitated by:
Rachel Birch — Moving Art Management
Kirsty Somerville - Dance City
Lizzie Klotz – Independent Artist/Producer
We will also share a Google Form survey to gather input from sector colleagues who prefer a lighter touch interaction, or where no further 1-2-1 slots are available, to share their thoughts and ideas. This will be released in July and open to respondents until the end of August. No honorarium is offered for the digital only format.
