Open Days have been announced for the Training Academy this Autumn.

General Training Academy information event Sunday 6 October, 3 – 5pm

This is a drop in event for prospective students and their carers/parents to speak to members of the BTEC and BA team about the course and to tour the facilities. There will be no opportunity to take class or experience the training on this day. For those that would like a more interactive practical experience please book onto the appropriate Open Day for the course you are interested in below.

Level 3 (BTEC) Dance Taster, tour and talk event Saturday 2 November, 1.30 – 4pm

The event will start with a practical session 1.30 – 3pm with BTEC teachers for prospective Level 3 (BTEC) students. This will give you experience of the teaching and standards expected of our Level 3 students. The class-style session will last one and a half hours and will test your dance abilities covering ballet, contemporary and creative styles. Booking is essential to ensure you are able to attend as places are limited.

Then at 3.15pm, parents/carers are encouraged to join us to find out all about this exciting Level 3 course in Dance. Meet the teachers, understand the course content and tour the world-class dance facilities.

BA (Hons) Professional Dance Taster, tour and talk event Thursday 7 November, 10am – 3pm

If you’re passionate about dance and dream of a career as a professional dance practitioner, then this degree programme will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experiences you need to excel.

Find out more about the high standard of professional dance expertise, teaching, support and outstanding facilities that have been brought together under the unique partnership between Dance City and University of Sunderland.

The Open Day is NOT an audition. Anyone wanting to apply for the course MUST apply through UCAS first. Once we receive the application, suitable candidates will be invited to audition.

Prospective students will take part in a contemporary technique and creative class (in the morning or afternoon) with a member of the teaching faculty. Parents/carers can join for a tour of Dance City’s facilities and the chance to watch current students at work. There will also be a presentation from the Course Leader with the opportunity to ask questions.

Book a place now only for the prospective student, you do NOT need to book places for parents.
