We’re excited to announce that we’ve recently appointed a new Chair of the Board of Trustees at Dance City

About Lyndsey
Lyndsey is Deputy Director at VisitEngland, the national tourism agency for England. She leads strategy, corporate planning and performance, plus priority programmes to enable the regional visitor economy to grow and develop. This includes roll out and support of a new tourism delivery structure and two Government funded regional pilots in the North East and West Midlands. She previously led the £45.5m Discover England Fund to create world-class bookable tourism products for domestic and international visitors and was responsible for England’s industry tourism growth strategy, leading relationships and delivery with the public and private sectors.
Lyndsey has worked at the forefront of policy making and its successful delivery locally. She has over two decades of experience lobbying, supporting and advising Government, including Ministers and local politicians, and has created impactful funding programmes and partnerships that join-up the public and private sectors. This has included culture, heritage, tourism and sport, transport and regeneration, as well as local government transformation and improvement.
She is a Yorkshire lass who moved to London to pursue her career straight after university where she studied economics and public policy. She recently (25 years later!) moved to the North East after falling in love with the region and its people. She has always been a passionate advocate of dance, as an art form but also as a brilliant way to support health, well-being and inclusion in communities.
Board recruitment
The Board of Dance City is looking to appoint new Board Members to provide inspirational leadership and strategic vision to take the charitable organisation onto its next stage of development. New Board Members will help us to ensure a sustainable business model that successfully serves our audiences, communities and stakeholders for decades to come.
Dance City is a charity and its main objective is that of promoting, maintaining, improving and educating by the encouragement of the arts. We primarily focus on dance, but touch on drama and music and many other artforms too.
“I have been impressed and inspired by the positive passion and commitment of the Dance City team, to adapt and innovate amidst such challenging conditions. To keep delivering dance training, to keep supporting dance artists, and to keep changing lives through dance in communities. We have much to be proud of, and more to look forward to – we hope that you might consider applying to be part of our future picture as a Board Member and look forward to hearing from you.
