Dance City is taking part in The Big Give’s Arts for Impact Week (17–24 March), inviting you to make twice the impact by giving to our new Dance Into Learning programme for children growing up in the West End of Newcastle. For one week only, every donation made through The Big Give platform will be matched pound‑for‑pound, meaning you can instantly double the difference you make.

The campaign aims to raise £3,150, which will be doubled to £6,300. Every pound goes directly toward delivering early years dance sessions for nursery and reception-aged children growing up in the West End of Newcastle — an area where 43% of children live in poverty and where many are starting school without the language, communication or social skills they need to thrive.

Giving children the best possible start

Dance Into Learning brings specialist dance practitioners into local nurseries and reception classes, where they work with teachers to help children to develop communication, teamwork, listening and physical skills. Through movement, rhythm, song, and storytelling, children grow in confidence and learn to work together. Families and carers are involved throughout, strengthening bonds and creating shared opportunities for learning, play, and connection.

Why your donation matters right now

Many young children in the West End are still feeling the effects of the pandemic, with teachers reporting increased delays in speech, language and social development. Dance City’s programme provides the safe, creative, active environment these children need to learn, to express themselves, and to build the foundations of lifelong health and wellbeing. 

Your donation will directly help us deliver weekly early years dance sessions, provide healthy snacks, offer free performance tickets, run family sharings, and supply the resources that make these sessions so engaging for children.
