Following on from the success of last year’s first Boyz Moves platform and to further support groups of boys who dance, we are thrilled to announce the second Dance City Boyz Moves Platform in November this year. The event will celebrate the achievements of young men who dance across the North East providing groups with the opportunity to perform in a professional space, be inspired, see each other’s work and acknowledge the talent of other young creators and performers.

The Boyz Moves Platform will take place at Dance City on Sunday 22 November and groups will be required on this day from 1 – 8.30pm approx.

The platform aims to support schools and groups to create and perform high quality dance which celebrates the achievements of boys and young men also showcasing youth dance progression routes available in the wider community.

Key features of the Platform

*Up to ten groups with all male dancers aged 7-25 years may be involved.
*Each group should create a new piece of dance lasting up to a max of 6 minutes.
*Groups will have the opportunity to watch each other during the afternoon technical rehearsal.
*Groups will be taught and perform a finale dance.

Ways to be involved

Option A – Create a new piece with a Dance City Artist at your school/youth group
*If requested, groups will be able to work with a professional Dance City Artist for 6 x 1 hour workshops/ 3 x 2 hour workshops (from Oct 2014) in your own suitable venue.
*A supporting teacher/group leader is needed to support and rehearse with the group further if needed and chaperone the group on the day of performance. A teacher should be nominated to take on this supporting role from the outset to further develop relationships between Dance City and your group and should be actively involved in all workshops, creating further rehearsal opportunities if needed.

Fee – £300

Option B – Without Dance Artist support
*Groups may already have a dance artist who works with the group and therefore no extra support is needed.
