In partnership with Living streets; Dance City delivered workshops for primary school children in May 2014 leading to a ‘dance walk’ over the Millennium Bridge.

The pupils all took part in a morning of workshops based at the Centre for Life on the theme of ‘Explorers’. Four movement patterns were created and then it was out to the Quayside to put it into action with 5 Dance City artists supporting and leading the groups.

The aims of the project were;

  • To raise awareness of Walk to School Week and encourage long-term engagement in Living Streets’ Walk to School campaign by pupils and school staff within primary and secondary schools
  • To promote the benefits of walking and physical activity to make walking the natural choice
  • To raise awareness of Living Streets presence regionally
  • To attract regional media coverage
