‘Satellite Clubs’ is a key part of Sport England’s Youth and Community Sport Strategy 2012-2017, and aims to undertake transformational change in the way that young people are supported from school, college and other relevant settings into community sport – creating a sporting habit for life.
The vision of the Satellite Clubs intervention is that by March 2017, every secondary school (in addition to clubs and other relevant settings) will be offered a satellite community sports club, with a direct link to one or more national governing bodies of Sport.
Dance City is a delivery partner for Tyne and Wear Sports Satellite clubs and has currently received funding to work with three secondary schools to create a unique “Dance City at…” programme. Funding has been secured for 30 sessions in each school who are at various points within the programme, the schools then create links to Dance City and our wider opportunities though performance opportunities at our venue, discounted theatre tickets and the expert knowledge of a Dance City artist.
If your school is interested in funding for a regular programme of activity (within Tyne and Wear) do please contact email@example.com Dance Engagement Co-ordinator and we can connect you to Tyne and Wear Sport.
