Dance City will be getting the people of Newcastle dirty dancing this November as they host a Dirty Dance dance-along party in the lead up to this year’s festivities. This one off event gives everyone the chance to live out their teenage dreams and have the time of their life dancing along to one of the most iconic dance movies of all time.

Join, Baby, Johnny, Penny and the rest of the gang as the 250 seat Dance City theatre is transformed into a cinema for the night, projecting the classic film onto the stage with plenty of space to dance along, all complete with a pop up bar to get you in the grooving mood.

Dirty dancing is the cult 80’s film that tells the story of Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman (Jennifer Grey) who falls madly in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) as he enlists her as his dance partner whilst vacationing at a Catskills resort with her family. Featuring a soundtrack of quintessential tunes of the era including ‘I’ve had the Time of My Life’ (Bill Medley, Jennifer Warnes), ‘She’s Like the Wind’ (Patrick Swayze) and ‘Hungry Eyes’ (Eric Carmen), this evening promises to be a nostalgic treat for all.

Host Caroline Banks will lead participants through a series of simple moves and steps, inspired by the movie’s choreography, ready for it to played on the big screen, then, every time a song comes on, just grab your friends and hit the dance floor!

For those who want a more technical breakdown of Dirty Dancing, Dance City will also be offering a specialist ballroom workshop at 2pm in which you can learn the basics of those classic dances all to the tunes of the film.

Dirty Dancing dance-along will be taking place from 7.00-10.00pm on Saturday 17th of November, tickets £15. Dirty Dancing themed ballroom workshop will take place at 2.00pm, tickets £15. Find out more at www.dancecity.co.uk or contact the ticket office on 0191 261 0505.
