About
Class description: Whether an experienced dancer or new to dance, Afro Mix is an effective dance work-out comprising a mixture of Afro-Caribbean dance styles, such as Dancehall, Reggaeton, Coupé décalé and Azonto as well as elements of Street, House, Vogueing and Commercial. This class will introduce you to styles that are not yet widely available across the North East, for example, Azonto – a seemingly simple, but extremely energetic and eye-catching social dance originating from Ghana. The immensely popular DEancehall and Reggaeton music (e.g. Sean Paul, Sean Kingston, Gyptian) spawned very characteristic, expressive dance movements (hip roll; pelvic grind; and the body roll), which will feature heavily in the Afro Mix class. Coupé décalé is mostly danced in East and Central Africa, and it has a Latin feel to it. It mostly draws on pelvic and hip movements combined with travelling, thus engaging you lower body and your major thigh muscles (such as quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes).

Targets: Cardio, full body workout.
