Billingham Festival 2017 – Contemporary Dance Performance Callout
Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance is looking for Contemporary Dance Performances as part of the Contemporary and South Asian Dance strands of their Festival Programme 2017.
Previous work showcased at the Festival has included:
Balbir Singh Dance Company, Eliot Smith Dance Company, Yuvel Soria, Vidya Patel and Connor Scott (BBC Young Dancer winners), Element Dance, ATMA Dance, Sonia Sabri Dance Company, Keira Dance, Keneish Dance and Ballet Nimba.
Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance, is based in the most northerly town of Stockton-on-Tees and was established in 1965. The festival’s main identity and focus is dance inspired by multicultural roots in its entire cultural spectrum, including reinterpretations of traditional dance through contemporary dance and other modern dance styles, social dance originating from World Cultures, contemporary dance fusion with Martial Arts, modern dance work inspired by World Cultural Heritage and Visual Arts. These elements are what make the festival unique.
The principal Festival funder is Stockton Borough Council, with support from Arts Council England.
Performance dates: between 12th and 19th August 2017
