Dance City hosts an annual programme of platform events for dance-makers at different stages of planning, creating and presenting their work. These provide the opportunity to show work to an audience and receive critical feedback from audience and other dance professionals.

You can find out more about how we support professional dance artists by downloading the document below.

Dance Edits

Dance Edits is an informal platform for regional, national and international dance artists to present new ideas and work to an audience, sometimes for the first time. The work will usually have undergone a period of development but is not at this stage be a finished product. Dance Edits takes place in Autumn and Spring each year.

If you would like to perform in Dance Edits please get in touch with us by emailing alex.anslow@dancecity.co.uk. Dance City will also on occasion invite dance artists to take part.

FRESH North East

FRESH North East is a scratch platform where a selection of our region’s talented dancers and choreographers share their latest creations in an informal theatre setting, and receive feedback from an audience dedicated to supporting the development of quality new work. Each event is an exciting mix of new ‘works in progress’ with a variety of dance styles, ideas and creative expression by a diverse group of makers. A networking gathering with complimentary refreshments takes place for 30mins before the event.

RE:FRESH, our re-modelled event due to COVID, will be taking place in October 2020, keep an eye on Dance City and Moving Art Management‘s channels for further announcements or contact: movingartmanagement@gmail.com

Next year is our 10 year anniversary of FRESH North East events, with more opportunities for artists to showcase their work to be announced soon, as well as details on our big celebration event!
