Chair Person, Company of Others

In 2016 Company of Others were awarded Elevate funding from Arts Council England to develop the company’s infrastructure, strategic planning and capacity in order to further contribute to the Creative Case for Diversity and Equality. This is an exciting time of growth for the company and we are seeking a Chair Person with expertise in Promotion of Equality and Diversity or Business Development, to play a key role in the development and governance of the organisation.

Chair Person will be required to:

  • Provide leadership for the Board
  • Ensure Board development and succession planning
  • Plan and facilitate the Board’s work
  • Provide effective chairing of meetings and agenda setting with Directors
  • To work with, line manage and support the Artistic Director.  This includes responsibility for supporting the continuing professional development of the Artistic Director and annual appraisals/performance review.
  • Liaise between the Board and senior staff
  • To ensure that the board are kept informed in order to fulfil their advocacy/ambassadorial role on behalf of the organisation
  • Provide continuity between board meetings
  • To ensure the effective, efficient administration and financial stability of Company of Others.
  • To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
  • Act as an ambassador and advocate for Company of Others.
  • Ensure that the Board has put in place satisfactory systems of control in respect of legal, operational and financial risk management.
  • Be available at times outside of board meetings for sub committees as required and attend all Company of Others’ performances
  • Support and guide the Artistic Director and General manager in achieving the company’s vision and aims.
