Dance Experience with OYO Namibia
25 July – 19 August 2016
4 week project for 6 dancers in Southern Africa.
Namibia’s first professional dance company has been invited to represent Namibian youth at Glasgow 2016 for the Commonwealth Games. To complete the exchange experience, OYO is seeking dancers from overseas to work with them in Windhoek. Would you like to work with an NGO that harnesses dance and other arts to engage, inform and empower young people to tackle HIV and related social issues.
They are seeking 6 outstanding, self-motivated and energetic dance students or graduates with a desire to experience dance in a development context. You will be working with members of the OYO Dance Troupe to create a piece that will be performed to reach learners and members of the public. The piece will directly tackle a social issue that is pertinent to the moment and the community. We are looking for talented individuals who have the skills to work creatively and to a tight deadline, who are vibrant, reliable performers, comfortable as role models, confident at building new relationships, and ready to adapt quickly to new people in a new culture.
On this Dance Experience with OYO, there will be 3 weeks of full-day rehearsals in Windhoek to exchange skills and create the new piece, immediately followed by performances.
Cost: £ 1,100, which includes your accommodation in Windhoek, airport transfer and your in-country travel for OYO. This does not include your flights
