NE Freelance Taskforce
We are currently representing the creative freelance community in the North East, through the newly appointed Freelance Task Force. The task force has emerged from a collective of theatre companies across the UK who signed an open letter highlighting much needed support for creative and specifically performing arts professionals, during the pandemic, until theatres are able to reopen in earnest. We have no idea when this might be and the government has yet to recommend a ’not before date’ as it has with many other industries. So, this leaves our freelance community in a very precarious position.
Our job is to galvanise our community, learn about our collective needs, act as a conduit for the national picture, finding ways to support and strengthen it through the pandemic and beyond.
If you are a creative freelancer working in the North East and would like to get involved please contact us at NE.freelancetaskforce@gmail.com with:
- A short introduction – where are you based & what discipline do you work in
- What is your current situation during the COVID-19 pandemic?
- What would they like to see in terms of support in response to the pandemic?
- When imagining the future for freelancers, do you have any suggestions for how we can build a better industry?
Look out for updates via our twitter: @FreelanceNe where we will be posting regular updates on the current situation and signposting you to ways you can seek support.
