Newcastle University Dance Competition – Judges Wanted

Saturday 17 February 2018

NUDC are looking for two judges which will be able to cover styles including tap, jazz, contemporary and Ballet. They are hoping to have approximately 8 other universities competing on the day.

The competition will taken place in the Banquet Hall of the Civic Centre, in Newcastle City Centre. The categories include:

Intermediate Ballet

Advanced Ballet

Intermediate Tap

Advanced Tap

Intermediate Contemporary

Advanced Contemporary

Intermediate Jazz

Advanced Jazz

Beginners Street

Advanced Street

Lyrical

Improvisation

Wildcard

For each category there will be a different number of universities competing. Each judge will have to score each university of each category out of 40 (10 for technique, 10 for performance, 10 for choreography, 10 for musicality). They also ask that on each marking sheet you leave a few comments about why you have given a particular dance that score and what they could possibly improve on.

The day will start at 9am and be finished by 5pm. It is a long day but there are breaks and snacks in between certain categories and they will also provide lunch for you. They do also provide food after the competition for all the competitors as well as a social which the judges are welcome to come along to.

Unfortunately they cannot cover the costs of transport but will pay each judge £100 for their input/comments/scoring and time.

It is always such a fun day and they really would love to have some teachers/ choreographers from Dance City to judge it.
