Video Artwork: The Swans of the North

Video artist Kathryn Wright is looking for five female dancers to collaboratively choreograph and perform a short contemporary dance piece inside the Civic Centre’s echo chamber as part of a short film.

And when the sun rears half his red circle
Above a steely blue sea and cold clouds.
Then, a shining sign in the sky for all the earth to see,
Fly five free birds – the swans of the North.
Hans Hartvig Pedersen’s poem The Swans of the North inspired the sculpture inside the Civic Centre, David Wynne’s Swans in Flight.

The dance piece will respond to themes of conflict, unity, nostalgia and hope.

This opportunity is unpaid and dancers must be available in early July.
