Ballet Wales is making a much anticipated return to Dance City this month, presenting Romeo A Juliet , winner of the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Large Scale Production, on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October.

Shakespeare’s classic tale has seen a resurgence in popularity over the last year with renditions from The Royal Ballet, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and The Royal Shakespeare Company touring the country with great success.

Ballet Wales’s award winning production promises to offer a unique and original portrayal of the famed love story, using a dynamic backdrop of video projections to create a world full of danger and excitement in which the drama unfolds. Intense fighting, passionate duets and universal themes echo through dramatic and lyrical choreography to ignite the imagination of audiences of all ages.

Romeo A Juliet features costumes by Georg Meyer-Wiel (www.meyerwiel.com) who studied at The Royal College of Art and has created costumes for some of the world’s leading companies, including Rambert Dance Company and Australian Dance Theatre.

As well as experiencing the full length performance, Ballet Wales and Dance City are offering ticket holders the chance to get a behind the scenes look at the preparation that goes into the show with an open rehearsal and company class observation from 3pm on the Friday.

Tickets are still available to both performances and can be booked via the Dance City website here or by contacting their Ticket Office on 0191 261 0505.
