As part of our recently announced collaboration with Moving Art Management, we are inviting independent dance artists to take part in a series of consultation conversations throughout summer 2026.

These sessions are designed to better understand:

  • What support independent dance artists currently need
  • The barriers artists are facing
  • Gaps in opportunities, resources and infrastructure
  • What future development programmes could look like
  • How organisations across the North East and beyond can collaborate more effectively to support artists in the region

The insights gathered will directly inform future programme design, partnerships and fundraising activity led by Moving Art Management and Dance City. A report will be made publicly available upon conclusion of the consultation period and will be shared with individuals and organisations across the region.

Dance City Workshop

This session will provide an opportunity to connect, share insights and explore collaborative approaches to strengthening the regional dance ecology, with a focus on supporting artists, developing audiences and building sustainable creative opportunities.

As well as dance artists and producers, we’re also keen to welcome creatives other disciplines who are interested in collaborating with dance artists—whether you’re a costume or lighting designer, composer, theatre-maker or work with movement in your practice. This workshop offers a chance to cross-pollinate ideas, spark new connections and explore how different artforms can come together through dance and movement.
