Dan Daw Creative Projects / Mark Maughan R&D Opportunity
Dan Daw Creative Projects / Mark Maughan ‘PORNO’ RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Awarded the Jerwood Choreographic Research Project II, choreographer Dan Daw & theatre director Mark Maughan are seeking performers for a new project
Expression of Interest Deadline: Friday 3 March 2017 5:00pm
In all Dan does as a disabled performer and choreographer, the notion of “inspiration” is ever present. Although never setting out to create work that intentionally inspires audiences, more often than not the resulting conversation centres around their “being inspired”.
Dan has never really understood what this inspiration is all about and wants to get to the bottom of it.
Together with theatre director Mark Maughan, Dan will work with an ensemble of performers with a range of experiences to dissect the notion of inspiration and explore its wider implications beyond disability. Our aim is to invite audiences to consider the origins and consequences of their own sources of inspiration.
If this is something you’d like to be part of, Dan and Mark would love to hear from you. We’re looking for experienced performers, of all shapes and sizes, disabled or otherwise, who are generous and comfortable working physically, to take part in a project we’re excited about initiating. An interest in collaborative processes is essential and we will sometimes use text in our investigation as a basis for producing material.
A paid selection workshop for up to 14 performers will be held on: MONDAY 27 MARCH, 11AM – 2PM Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Rosebery Avenue, LONDON EC1R 4TN
KEY DATES
The research will take place in residence in Nottingham at iC4C for up to 4 performers. To work with us on this project, we need you to be available from MONDAY 17 APRIL – FRIDAY 28 APRIL.
This is a paid opportunity. Return travel to and accommodation in Nottingham will be provided.
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST DEADLINE To register your interest please contact susan@susanwinterproductions.com with a paragraph outlining your practice to date and what you feel you might bring to the project by Friday 3 March.
