Freelance Artists Needed – Hartlepool Waterfront Festival 2019

As part of this year’s Hartlepool Waterfront Festival, we are working with artist Luca Rutherford to develop an ambitious narrative that will be played out at the festival. This narrative will be based around the theme ‘Harbour of Refuge’ and will see Hartlepool throw the biggest party in its history as we welcome a giant puppet called Bran to the festival!

We are looking for artists, makers, crafters and creators to form part of Hartlepool Waterfront Festival 2019’s exciting Creative Workshops on Saturday 20 July and Sun 21 July 2019.

This is an area for direct engagement with high quality artists through arts activity in a safe environment. It could also involve live artwork being created throughout the day.

We’re looking for drop-in workshops, either artist-led or self-led, that can take place over the full length of the festival – around 12pm-6pm over both days.

The workshops can be anything you like, but we’d love it if you could stick to this year’s narrative of Harbour of Refuge and the 2 day party concept.

These workshops should be free, open to all and accessible to a range of audiences, as well as being open all day.

We’re particularly interested in interactive, medium-scale live-art such as Mammalian Diving Reflex’s Haircuts by Children or the activity listed in the book PLAYING UP, by Sibyelle Peters, but feel free to propose smaller workshops or other live outdoor artistic activity.

Proposals should include the following:
– a short letter detailing your ideas for workshops or live artistic activity; – a brief artist statement or CV;
– some high quality images of your work;
– your fee for delivering this workshop.

If you require this information in a more accessible format, please do not hesitate to get in contact. A link to Hartlepool Waterfront Festival can be found here.

Please email your submissions by 5pm on the 14th June to info@bloominart.co.uk
