WORKSHOP

Tailored towards professional dance artists and recent graduates, this intensive with choreographer Theo Clinkard is centred around his ongoing research towards a new work for a larger group of dancers with a view to enriching participants own practice as performers, dance makers and teachers. Starting each day with a generous two hour class that is both challenging and playful, followed by a focused session where participants can delve into and discuss some of the ideas he is currently concerned with before developing material through exploratory and creative tasks and dancing together as a group.

MORNING CLASS

Theo begins his working day with a release based class. Starting with simple exercises that develop awareness and connection within the dancing body and perception games for people to relate themselves to each other and to the space they are inhabiting. Through a balance of improvised movement and designed movement patterns his class is then devised to challenge dancers coordination and help them find greater clarity in articulation. He finishes up with expansive phrase work that encourages playful, present and expansive dancing.
