Möbius Dance – Audition Notice
Gianluca Vincentini is seeking applications for Möbius Dance’s new project from 2 female choreographers and 3 dancers (male and female) dancers based in the North of England.
About the Project:
Möbius Dance (MD) is a new Leeds-based contemporary dance company specialising in innovative choreographic work, curation and professional development. This project, in partnership with key organisations will launch and establish Möbius Dance (MD), nurture talent and promote female choreographers and early career artists.
This project will:
- Commission 2 female choreographers (based in the North of England) to create work on the MD Company.
- Engage 3 early career North-based performers to work professionally with MD on a range of activities including performances, classes and workshops whilst supporting them with sessions of mentoring for their professional development.
Choreographers
This is a great opportunity for two female choreographers to work with three performers to develop a piece from a new idea or an already existing piece.
If selected, you will receive:
- A fee to undertake a 2 week creative/rehearsal studio residency at NSCD, Leeds Beckett, Northern Ballet and/or Phoenix Dance Theatre in Leeds.
- Studio support from Artistic Director, Gianluca Vincentini.
- Dramaturgical support from Beth Cassani.
- Mentoring from Moving Art Management.
In order to be considered, choreographers must:
- Be willing to lead company class for a week that is open to professionals within the region.
- Have created work for a small/mid-scale company.
- Have had at least 2 years professional experience.
- Be available for the full length of the project.
Creation: 2 weeks (Creation period to be confirmed: 15 Jan – 23 Feb; Performances: 15 March, 29 March).

Performers
This is an exciting opportunity for performers within the early stages of their career, who can demonstrate high level of commitment, enthusiasm and exceptional talent. You must have less than 3 years professional experience (graduated in 2015 or later) and be based in the North of England.
Auditions will be held at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds and will be by invitation only.
Audition date: 4th November 2017
Recall: 5th November 2017
Performers must be available for the full length of the project.
Creation: 4 weeks (Creation period to be confirmed: 15 Jan – 23 Feb; Performances: 15 March, 29 March).
