SEED. Nature in the City’s Heart
SEED. Nature in the City’s Heart. Part 1.
SEED is a collaborative community arts project happening in The Clubhouse & its surroundings in Summerhill Square, Newcastle from early April to late June 2016.

SEED has grown out of “Turning”, a series of performance & creative workshops in the Clubhouse from 2013 to 2015.
SEED is funded by the Newcastle Community Arts Foundation.
The project starts in early April and has a number of threads to it.
- A 3 month collaboration between a group of artists to share skills, inspirations & ideas. These artists already have a creative working relationship with the Clubhouse. We had our first planning & workshop session at Dance City in mid March. For a list of participating artists see below.
- As well as sharing creative skills & ideas the artists are running a series of open workshops for anyone who is interested/motivated/inspired to develop their creativity. Participants in these workshops will include local residents, schools, Clubhouse users, asylum seekers & refugees.
- The project culminates with an event on 26th June in the Clubhouse & grounds to celebrate the Summer Solstice. Bringing together the people, skills & creative energies that have been part of the project with an invited audience.
SEED is the first stage of “Nature in the City’s Heart” The long term aim of the project is to establish a creative skills sharing & learning centre based around the Clubhouse. It has a particular focus on collaboration, celebration and (as its name implies) events that are inspired by the relationships & dynamics between the natural world & the life of the city.
As SEED unfolds we’ll be applying for funding for “ROOTS & SHOOTS – Nature in the City’s Heart. Part 2” .
A 12 month long workshop & performance project starting in 2017.
A full timetable of SEED workshops & other activities will be available soon.
