Vincent Dance Theatre AUDITION WORKSHOP
BRIGHTON, SUNDAY 30 APRIL
The Spire, BN2 5JN
Vincent Dance Theatre is looking for YOUNG MALE PERFORMERS aged 11-18 to join the company this summer/autumn to devise, perform and film a new production. If you are a young DANCER or MOVEMENT ARTIST in any style (hip hop, street, contemporary, ballet, partnering, contact improvisation, Latin, tap, Irish) they’d love to hear from you.
If you are a RAPPER, LYRICIST, SLAM POETRY or SPOKEN WORD ARTIST, comfortable performing live on stage and willing to give performing a go, they’d love to hear from you.
The production, SHUT DOWN, will be directed by choreographer Charlotte Vincent and devised by boys and young men as part the VDT ensemble, alongside experienced adult performers. The production explores WHAT ITS LIKE TO LIVE AS A YOUNG MAN TODAY and how the digital world impacts on identity, personal choices and ‘real life’ relationships.
No previous performance experience is necessary, but you need to be up for a challenge, willing to work hard, investigate the issues and offer your personal contributions to the creative process. If you are under 18, it is likely you will have to come out of school/college for the making, rehearsal, production and filming periods, which VDT will arrange with your school/college/parents or guardians.
This is PAID WORK for the periods employed by VDT. The company will also provide accommodation and travel if you are based outside Brighton for the duration of your involvement in the project.
SHUT DOWN will be performed live at The Place London 28/29 November 2017 and in Brighton Saturday 2 December (tbc). Material from the live production will be filmed over 2 weeks in December and distributed from 2018.
