BA (Hons) Professional Dance & MA Advanced Dance Performance

Education is a cornerstone of activity at Dance City, and formal further and higher education in dance has long been a part of the organisation’s contribution to local, regional, national and international dance. The organisation is now in a position to build on the innovations of decades of work to develop its activities in this area, to continue to provide relevant, meaningful dance education for a range of learners.  As such, the following roles have become available:

Senior Lecturer (full time for 12 months)

Salary: £29,000 – £33,000 (per annum)

Reports to: BA/MA Programme Leader

Responsible for: Module Leaders, as directed by the BA/MA Programme Leader

Role Purpose: To deliver high quality dance education activity, meeting the objectives of Dance City’s higher education programmes, particularly the BA (Hons) Professional Dance and, as required, the MA Advance Dance Performance, delivered in partnership with Sunderland University.

About the role

Dance City is seeking a Senior Lecturer to join the organisation to deliver primarily on its BA (Hons) Professional Dance, run in partnership with the University of Sunderland. The successful candidate will be an inspiring and organised higher education professional with active links to the professional dance sector, and will work with the small, dedicated team to support students to achieve their goals within the atmosphere of a working arts organisation. Though skills in teaching technique, performance and choreography are welcome, we expect to appoint a candidate with experience in teaching to Level 6 in two or more of the following specialisms: dance/arts management, dance history/scholarship, dance teaching/pedagogy/facilitation.

Associate Artist, MA Advanced Dance Performance (Senior Lecturer-equivalent) (Fixed Term- 0.5 FTE annualised for 12 months)

Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 (per annum, pro-rata)

Reports to: BA/MA Programme Leader

Responsible for: Module Leaders, as directed by the BA/MA Programme Leader

Role Purpose: To deliver high quality dance education activity, delivering the objectives of the Dance City MA in partnership with Sunderland University

About the role

Dance City is seeking a professional choreographer to join its higher education team for twelve months, to deliver primarily on its MA Advanced Dance Performance, run in partnership with the University of Sunderland. The successful candidate will be a working artist with significant experience of creating and touring dance work and will have experience teaching and leading in higher education. As well as creating work for the postgraduate company, The Collective, this artist will regularly deliver technique and performance skills sessions and undertake module leadership.
