Cafe/Bar

The Seven Bridges café is now open – a collaboration between Dance City and The West End Refugee Service (WERS) serving hot and cold drinks and food.

Accessibility

Dance City is committed to dance reaching as many people as possible. Our building in Newcastle is accessible and our friendly staff at the ticket office are on hand to help with your enquiries on 0191 261 0505. Facilities include:

  • Accessible parking – in Newcastle this is on the ground level of Grainger Town Multi storey car park. There is no parking outside Dance City – this is for staff only.
  • Level access to the Dance City building
  • Lift access between all levels
  • Accessible toilets, showers and changing rooms
  • Induction loop at the Ticket Office

Find Us

Dance City Newcastle is located in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, just a 5 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station. Central Station and St James metro stations are both close by.

By car

Travelling from the South

Head north past A1 Washington Services, continue on A1. Exit onto the A184 towards Gateshead/Newcastle. Continue on A189 and cross the Redheugh Bridge. Take the middle lane on to St James Boulevard/A189. Turn right onto Westmorland Road/A186. Take the first left onto Waterloo Street and turn left onto Peel Lane.

Travelling from the North

From Morpeth head south on the A1. Take the A69/A186 ramp to Hexham/City Centre (West). At the roundabout take the first exit onto the West Road/A186, continue along the A186 West Road. Continuing on the West Road head down a hill (there are various motorbike shops on either side of the road) when you reach the traffic lights at the bottom of the hill turn right onto St James Boulevard/A189. Head straight and you will pass Dance City on your left. At the traffic lights turn left onto Westmorland Road, then take the first left onto Waterloo Street and turn left onto Peel Lane.

Parking

Grainger Town Multi storey car park is situated right next to Dance City and can be found when turning onto Waterloo Street. Please note that weekend parking can be very busy and taking public transport into the city centre is a good idea if at all possible.

By train

We are just a 5 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station. Exit the station and turn left on Neville Street. Walk along until you see Centre for Life on your left opposite its entrance archway there is a pedestrian crossing, cross over and head left. At Premiere Newsagents turn right onto Waterloo Street where you’ll see Akbars Restaurant and head straight. On the second left turning head left up Peel Lane and you will see Dance City at the top of the lane.

By public transport

All public travel information including rail links and bus and Metro timetables are available from Nexus or Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.

For local bus services, bus stops are located very close by at Central Station and Westgate Road opposite Tyne Theatre.

On foot

Central Station

We are just a 5 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station. Exit the station and turn left on Neville Street. Walk along until you see Centre for Life on your left, opposite its entrance archway there is a pedestrian crossing, cross over and head left. City Centre – Grey’s Monument

We are just a ten minute walk from the main city centre. Starting at Greys Monument head left towards Blackett Street, Boots Chemist will be on your left. Continue straight and you will see Next on your left. At the pedestrian crossing cross over and continue to head straight on towards Gallowgate. Follow this path, passing St James Park on your right. Continue straight and you will arrive at Dance City on your left hand side.

By bike

We’re located close to a number of key cycle routes; you can find details of nearby routes via Sustrans. We have a number of cycle racks outside the building to lock up your bike.
