Support Dance City

Dance City is the leading dance organisation for the North East. Our vision is that everyone can access life-affirming, inclusive opportunities to experience dance.

Dance City welcomes over 50,000 attendances a year from people aged 0 to 90+ years coming to performances and public classes; young dancers studying at our advanced training centre; and the professional dance artists who we support to have sustainable, creative careers in dance  –  all taking place in our building, online and in communities across the North East.

We are determined that everyone in our region can experience world-class dance of all kinds, as participants, audience members and artist – for the long term.

In our 40th year we are launching a special appeal to support the future of Dance City for the North East.

You can make this a reality.

We need to raise £4 million over the next 10 years so that we can continue to offer great dance moments for audiences and participants in the North East and ensure a vibrant future for dance in our region.

  • Arts – we want to continue to present the very best work to our audiences in our theatre and support dance artists based in the North East to have resilient, creative careers in dance.
  • Learning – our goal is for many more children and young people to experience dance – growing creativity and confidence and supporting their educational attainment.
  • Health – our vision is to foster an active region, where people have better health at all life stages through participating in dance.

How Your Support Makes A Difference

  • £15 could enable older adults to take part in dance sessions designed to promote active ageing and maintain their social networks.
  • £40 could help young children in Newcastle’s West End to develop social and physical skills through dance, helping them to thrive in school and supporting their lifelong health.
  • £120  could support exceptional young dancers to develop their performance and creative skills through transformational residentials with leading choreographers.

“The best thing about Dance City coming to our schools is that it has given our children the opportunity to shine.  Whether they think they’re good or bad at dancing it has given them an opportunity to express themselves in ways I don’t think they knew. They know they can succeed, and that’s what Dance City’s brought them.”
