Environmental/Green Info

Dance City is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our building. We are working with Julie’s Bicycle to reduce our carbon emissions and become more environmentally friendly and a sustainable place to work and visit. We are proud to have been awarded the Industry Green Certification which will be used to further drive the organisation towards better environmental policy and sustainability.

Industry Green (IG) is the leading certification scheme for environmental sustainability the cultural sector. Ten of the region’s leading cultural organisations, represented collectively as Newcastle Gateshead Cultural Venues (NGCV) have been working collectively towards the certificate for 8 months.

IG recognises environmental performance covering energy, waste, water and travel, and is awarded on a scale of 1 to 3 stars according to degree of commitment and relative progression. The scheme is administered by Julie’s Bicycle, a national not-for-profit working on sustainability within the creative industries.

The NGCV organisations comprise: Dance City, Theatre Royal, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Centre for Life, Live Theatre, Northern Stage, Seven Stories, The Sage Gateshead, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and Tyneside Cinema.
